Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles on California’s South Central Coast, Bishop’s Peak is an ancient volcano that towers above the city of San Luis Obispo. As the tallest of a series of volcanic peaks, “the Seven Sisters,” Bishop's Peak is one of the most important landmarks in San Luis Obispo County.
The Talley family chose Bishop’s Peak to convey their commitment to the production of handcrafted wines that best express San Luis Obispo County’s unique winegrowing conditions - from the sun-drenched vineyards of Paso Robles in the northern part of the county to the cool-climate vineyards of the Arroyo Grande Valley and Edna Valley in South County.
Vineyards where fruit is grown for Bishop's Peak wines now extend north to Monterey County (for chardonnay) and south to Santa Barbara County (for Pinot Gris). These bottlings express the unique flavor profiles of their regions, the hallmark of Bishop's Peak wines.

The Talley family, farmers in the Arroyo Grande Valley for three generations, chose Bishop's Peak to convey their commitment to the production of hand-crafted wines that express the diverse wine growing conditions on California's Central Coast. Bishop’s Peak wines are uniquely different from the estate grown chardonnay and pinot noir wines of Talley Vineyards (both are handcrafted at the Talley Family Winery in Arroyo Grande) as the grapes for Bishop’s Peak are grown throughout San Luis Obispo County, as well as Santa Barbara County to the south, and Monterey County to the north. Bishop's Peak wines include Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, and a proprietary blend - Rock Solid Red.
The concept behind Bishop's Peak is simple: to produce honest wines of good value that display the distinctive characteristics of their origins. Grapes for Bishop’s Peak wines are purchased from growers who share the Talley family’s commitment to quality. Brian Talley, Vineyard Manager Kevin Wilkinson, and Winemaker Leslie Mead work closely with these growers throughout the year to ensure that yields are moderate and quality is maximized.
Recently, the Talley family purchased a vineyard in the Templeton Gap region of Paso Robles that they renamed “Hazel’s Vineyard” for Talley Farms co-founder, Hazel Talley. The cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, grenache and syrah grown at Hazel's Vineyard now go into Bishop's Peak bottlings. Bishop’s Peak 2005 Cabernet Franc was the first vineyard-designate wine produced from Hazel’s Vineyard.
